A Staycation Can Be A Great Vacation

With the easing of social distancing and travel restrictions in the Atlantic region, most of us are making plans to get outside and spend time with extended family and friends.

It may be a while before we feel comfortable enough to jump on a plane for that European summer vacation and many people simply can’t afford to do so because they have been out of work for months.  This pandemic has taken its toll on so many financially  but it is possible to get the summer break you deserve without breaking the bank.

Staycations help you save time and money because you minimize expenses on things like plane tickets, rental cars, accommodations and eating out.

But there is more to it than just money. Travel can be fun but it can also be stressful and this pandemic has caused us all enough stress! Staying close to home puts more money back into the local economy and helps local businesses survive.  Not to mention, it reduces the stress you feel when you look at your next credit card statement.

Staycations can actually be better than a real vacation because it starts right away. No rushing to pack bags, get to the airport and catch a flight. No long drives. Just come home and relax. You never have to worry about the weather. Pets care isn’t an issue because they are with you. There might be projects that you never have time to complete that can finally be crossed off your list.  Read that book you meant to finish but never did.  So many people spend every minute of their vacation running around then come back to work exhausted creating more stress.  Staycations are about taking it easy everyday of your time off.

You just might realize that slowing the world down and enjoying time at home or near home with the people you care about and doing the things you like makes you more relaxed and just as happy as an expensive vacation away. And that’s really what a vacation is all about!
